Sweets by Suzi began in 2009 in Round Rock, Texas, when my son Nicholas joined the Air Force. After raising Nicholas as a single mom, I found myself in need of a new "hobby" when he left for basic training. After taking a few cake decorating classes at Michaels and watching hours of Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes, I realized that I could turn my love for baking and decorating into the ultimate stress reliever, especially when Nicholas was deployed to Iraq in 2010. While I have a full time job during the week, my early mornings, nights and weekends are often filled with creating, baking, decorating and delivering my creations. From functional and decorative diaper cakes, to cake balls, cupcakes, cookies, tarts and cakes for all occasions - I've done it all. I've had the pleasure of being part of special days - from weddings and anniversaries, to quinceaneras, graduations, baby showers and subsequent birthdays. I've sent treats overseas and welcomed Airmen back from deployment with cupcakes and cake balls. One of the best compliments I've ever received is when Nicholas came back to Round Rock and told a friend that every time he comes home "it smells like cake." My son is my inspiration and Sweets By Suzi is my passion.
